Holidaymakers start returning to Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: The city's bus, train and launch terminals looked busy on Friday as Eid holidaymakers started returning to Dhaka from their village homes.

Three-day (August 21-23) public holidays on the Eid ended on Thursday. Friday is the weekend. Non-government institutions are set to begin office since Saturday.

So, the city dwellers started returning to Dhaka on Friday to avoid sufferings.

Abul Kashem, hailed from Chattogram, said at Sayedabad bus terminal that he returned to Dhaka early (Friday) to avoid sufferings from traffic congestion on highway and to consider about holidays.

“Many people will start to return since Saturday which will create ticket crisis. So, considering the issue, I reached Dhaka to avoid trouble. After having rest, I will join office on Saturday,” he added.

Safin, another passenger who returned to Dhaka on Friday said at Sayedabd echoed with Kashem.

Ashraful, supervisor of Hanif Paribahan, said, “Many people started returning to Dhaka on Friday to escape sufferings on highways.”
