Holy Ashura on Sept 21

Senior Correspondent: The holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA), grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed in the country on September 21.

The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at a meeting on Monday evening as the new moon of Muharram, the first month of Hijri 1440, was not sighted in the country today.

The meeting was held at the Islamic Foundation meeting room at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

Religious Affairs Secretary Md Anisur Rahman presided over the meeting.
