Holy Ashura tomorrow

Staff Correspondent: The holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain Ibn Ali (RA), a grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), will be observed on Friday across the country with due religious solemnity.

Tomorrow is 10th day of the month of Muharram in the Arabic calendar. Muslims across the world recalled the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) along with his 72 followers, who embraced martyrdom for establishing truth and justice in the fight with soldiers of Yazid on Karbala Maidan in Iraq.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) took adequate security measures to ensure smooth observance of Holy Ashura.

The DMP also banned carrying lethal weapons such as metal weapons, knife, sword and other sharp objects during Tazia processions.

Archway and metal detectors, dog squad of police and RAB, bomb disposal units will also remain vigilant to ensure security. Police forces will be deployed on the rooftops of some buildings at some major points of Imambara.
