Huge security for Pahela Baishakh celebration

Hasan Mahmud: The law enforcers here have taken extra security measures to avert any untoward incident on Pahela Boishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year.

Huge number of law enforcement agencies including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), detectives and plain dressed policemen will be deployed in key points in the capital during celebration of Pahela Baishakh. 

The total areas of Dhaka University, Ramna and Suhrawardy Udyan have been placed under CCTV surveillance.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) urged all to leave the Ramna and Suhrawardy Udyan within 5:30pm for the security.

Visitors will be frisked thoroughly in the entry and exit points to Ramna and Suhrawardy Udyan. Besides, bomb disposal units, SWAT, foot patrol team, watch tower and other additional security systems will be active in the fair or program me venue area.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the government is promised to ensure tight security for the sake of smooth celebration of Pahela Baishakh.

The law enforcement agencies have been asked to beef up security in Ramna park area, Dhaka university campus, Shahbagh and Suhrawardy Udyan and Dhanmondi Lake areas to ensure security on that day, he added.

More than one person would not be allowed on a motorcycle on Pahela Baishakh, and urged all to refrain from carrying any bag at celebration places.
