Staff Correspondent: A total of 193 teachers and employees of non-governmental educational institutions fell sick as they continued their hunger strike for the 10th day demanding inclusion of their educational institutions in the government’s monthly payment order (MPO) system.
Of them 23 teachers and employees were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Non-MPO Educational Institution Teacher-Staff Federation President Golam Mahmudunnabi Dollar confirmed the matter to risingbd.com on Wednesday.
Teachers and employees of non-governmental educational institutions took position on the streets at the opposite side of National Press Club.
Some of them were seen lying on street and some of them were given saline injections as they became weak due to the hunger strike.
Returning from hospital, Golam Mahmudunnabi Dollar said, "Today is 25th day of our strike. And the hunger strike is underway for the 10th consecutive day."
He said, "Our demand is fair. Earlier, we had returned to our work station when the Prime Minister accepted our demand. But, we are disappointed now. There is no reflection of our hope in announced budget. That’s why we started movement again. We are hoping the government will accept us."
