Husband-wife killed in Khulna road crash

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: A man and his wife were killed in a collision between a sand-laden truck and a motorcycle in the district’s Dumuria upazila on Friday morning.

The accident took place around 8:30 am on Khulna-Satkhira highway in Purba Jhilerdanga area.

The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam Molla, 45, a fish trader of Jagirmahal-Khajura village under Amadi union of Koyra upazila, and his wife Ayesha Siddika, 35.

Officer-in-Charge of Dumuria Police Station Habil Hossain said Nazrul Islam Mollah and his wife were going to Khulna by motorcycle. A sand-laden truck hit their motorcycle from the opposite side.  Ayesha Siddika died on the spot. Nazrul Islam Mollah died after being taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

The OC said the fled truck from the spot, and police is trying to trace the truck.
