IPU conference definitely brings pride for nation

The 136th assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) ended with the Dhaka Declaration for immediate action to reverse the trend of political, social and economic inequalities prevalent in the world and leaving no one behind.

Representatives from 171 countries joined the international conference. Besides, speakers and deputy speakers of 95 countries also took part in the five-day long programme in Dhaka.

IPU approved a proposal for action for the parliamentary community worldwide to combat terrorism and religious extremism. Side by side, IPU condemned the recent chemical attack in Syria which was important.  The world leaders praised Bangladesh for the overall colorful and successful arrangement.

The main theme of the conference was "Redressing Inequalities: Delivering on Dignity and well being for all”. The member countries expressed solidarity to work on that issue. Specific proposal came from the conference over removing discrimination.

Earlier, achieving sustainable development goals to establish peace in the world, leaders expressed their opinions in IPU's previous conference. Bangladesh ended the conference successfully in the ongoing insecurity and militancy across the globe this year.

The members of the parliament (MPs) represent general people of a country. And now the MPs are playing role in international arena crossing national border.  IPU is playing an important role in this regard.

The powerful infrastructure and budget are must to reduce discrimination in national and international levels for the sake of human rights, the Dhaka revealed.

Basically, it was a great challenge for Bangladesh to hold IPU conference in Dhaka for the first time.  Bangladesh has achieved a new milestone through the successful arrangement of IPU which is also known as 'the heart of the world's parliamentary politics'.

Bangladesh showed its positive image to the world community. Most of the democratic countries in the world now know our effective figure of democracy.

The assembly president speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said that Bangladesh is moving ahead in all sectors and the representatives of word observed that.

The successful arrangement of IPU is a matter to pride for Bangladesh. As a national we feel proud also. The conference proves that the democratic countries of the world have trust on the Bangladesh's democracy.
