IU teachers protest attack on IU VC

IU Correspondent: The teachers of Islamic University formed a human chain on the campus in Kushtia protesting the attack on the university vice-chancellor, Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, on Sunday.

The teachers formed the human chain under the banner of Islamic University Teachers’ Association in front of the university’s arts’ faculty building around 12:00pm.

Around 2 hundred teachers of different departments took part on the human chain.

Among others, IU pro-vice-chancellor, Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, IUTA president Professor M Mizanur Rahman, its secretary Professor M Wali Ullah and IUTA former president Professor M Mahbubur Rahman addressed the human chain.

While addressing the human chain, the speakers condemn the incident and request to the government and law enforcement agencies to take visible steps to identify the culprits and ensure punishment soon.

Such kind of crimes would happen consecutively if the culprits are not punished, the speakers added.

On Friday early morning, a group of unidentified miscreants attacked the VC on Jhenaidah-Kushtia Highway near Boroda at Sailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah while he was returning to the campus from Dhaka.

The university authorities had lodged a case with the university police station over the incident on Friday evening.
