IUJA gets fresh committee

H K Jibon from IU: The election of the Islamic University Journalists Association (IUJA) was held on the campus in Kushtia on Saturday.

Mustafa Zubayer Alam of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha and Abdullah Al- Faruk of Inqilab have been elected as its new president and secretary respectively.

The election was held at the university press corner near to the university central auditorium around 8:30am.

The others elected office bearers are- Rashedun Nobi Rashed of Jaijaidin as vice president, Mahmud Hasan Roni of The New Nation as joint secretary, Tabibur Rahman Akash of dainikshiksha.com as treasurer, K M Mahfujur Rahman Mishu of The Daily Ittefaq as office secretary, Emran Shuvro of Manabzamin as publication secretary, Humayun Kabir Jibon of New Age, Shaifullah Himel of Naya Diganta, Ashikur Rahman Boni of Amader Somoy and Irfan Mahmud Rana of Dinkal as members.

IU student adviser Professor M Anwarul Haque Shopon announced the result as the chief election commissioner around 12:00pm.

IU information, publication and public relation office head, M Ataul Haque, IUJA former president M Suja Uddin and its former secretary Muhammad Ali were act as the assistant election commissioners while IU proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman was present as investigator.

Later, IU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, Pro-VC Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha, Islamic University Teachers Association, Shapla Forum, Bangabandhu Parisad, Green Forum and various cultural and students’ organisations including IU unit of Bangladesh Samajtantrik Chhatra Front congratulated the new elected committee.
