Illegal gas connection: ACC starts probe against Titas Manager

Senior Correspondent: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has started investigation into the allegations of corruption against Engineer Sabber Ahmed, Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company.

The watchdog also started investigation into the allegation of illegal money earning. ACC took the decision in a meeting held on October 8.

ACC's Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to risingbd.com on Tuesday.

According to the allegations, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company took additional bills giving less gas then demand. On the other hand, giving illegal gas connection in factories in Gazipur, 4-6 times more gas was used. Factories took scope to use additional gas due to some dishonest officials of Titas. As a result, the government lost hundreds of crore taka every year. 

Besides, the Titas officials embezzled a huge number of money giving illegal gas connection over 150 factories in Gazipur area.
