Entertainment Desk: Prominent singer Ayub Bachchu has passed away. He died of cardiac arrest at the Square Hospital in the capital on Thursday morning.

A shadow of deep desolation has descended in the cultural arena at the death of the popular singer. Many of the musicians and people concerned rush to the hospital.

When contacted, legendary singer Kumar Bishwajit told risingbd at 10:30am that he heard news of Ayub Bachchu demise.

“He (Bachchu) was in Rangpur day before yesterday. I did not talk to him these days. However, I’m getting his cell phone switched off. I cannot understand who I should phone. Currently, I’m not mentally all right and will talk to you later,” he said.

According to family sources, Ayub Bachchu performed in a stage show in Rangpur on Wednesday night. He along with his team members arrived in Dhaka early Thursday. But Bachchu was feeling discomfort. He was rushed to the Square Hospital immediatey where doctors declared him dead.

Ayub Bachchu was born in Chittagong on August 16, 1962.

He started his music career there with the band Feelings in 1978.

From 1980 to 1990, he was a member of Souls as lead guitarist and finally in 1991, he formed his own band, LRB.

LRB released its first album as a double album, which contained hard rock songs like "Madhobi" "Hoker" "Sesh Cithi keno amon Cithi hoy" "Happy" and "Dhakar Sondha".
