'Implementation of new wage structure this month'

Staff Correspondent: Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said that the new wage structure of garment workers will be implemented this month.

The minister said this at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
 Calling upon the workers to return to work, the minister said, steps will be taken against those who are trying to catch fish in troubled water.

He said, if anyone gets less salary in the structure, it will be adjusted with the salary of the current month. No worker will be paid less in January. The committee, comprising owners and workers’ representatives, will work to resolve the problem.

He also said a review committee will be constituted to look after the matter.
