Imran H Sarker attacked

Staff Correspondent: Gonojagoron Mancha spokesman Imran H Sarker came under an attack while walking out of a Dhaka court after securing bail in a defamation case filed for his derogatory remark about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Imran was attacked while coming out of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's (CMM) Court on Sunday.

Attackers reportedly threw rotten eggs and brick chunks aiming at Imran while he was coming out of the court after securing the bail in the case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate SM Masud Zaman granted bail to Imran H Sarker in the defamation case.

Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Golam Rabbani filed the defamation case against him for making such derogatory remark about the prime minister.

According to the case statement, Imran chanted defamatory slogans against the prime minister on May 31 over the removal of the statue of Greek goddess Themis from the Supreme Court premises.
