Imran H Sarker files writ

Staff Correspondent: Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker on Monday filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging ‘bar’ and seeking directions for travelling abroad.

Confirming the news, Imran H Sarker said that senior lawyer Barrister M Amir-ul-Islam will stand in the court on behalf of him.

Earlier, Imran H Sarker was barred to travel abroad on Friday last.

Sarker said, “Invited by US Department of State, he was scheduled to go to the USA to attend the Youth Visitors Leadership Programme and another programme on human rights.

“I arrived in the airport at 4pm as my US-bound Emirates flight was scheduled to take off at 7pm. After finishing the immigration checking, I took my seat on the plane. Then, a police officer asked me to come out of the aircraft and started quizzing me why I am going to the USA, which lasted for long. Meantime, the plane departed.”

“Later, the police officer told me that my USA journey has been cancelled as per the higher authorities’ instructions,” said Sarker.
