Indefinite transport strike in Lalmonirhat

Lalmonirhat Correspondent: Transport owners association and workers went on an indefinite strike in the district on Friday.

The organization called the strike over repairing of the highways. Following the strike, no vehicle left the district bus-terminal to Dhaka as well as the inter-district route. Sufferings of commuters and passengers mounted due to the transport strike.

Lalmonirhat district motor workers league general secretary Abul Kamal Azad said that several kilometers of road of Namurhi to Kakina bazaar under Aditmar upazila on Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway were inaccessible to vehicle movement. Vehicle turned into turtle everyday in the road area due to pothole. No driver wants to use the roads.

The strike will continue until the authority repairs the roads, he added. 

Deputy Commissioner of Lalmonirhat Abul Fayez Md Alauddin Khan said that roads and highway department was directed to repair the roads.
