JOF urges EC to announce schedule after dialogue

Senior Correspondent: Jatiya Oikyafront (JOF) has urged the Election Commission (EC) to announce schedule for the upcoming 11th general election until the dialogue with government ends.

JOF made the urges writing a letter to EC on Saturday.

Rafiqul Islam Pathik, Gono Forum’s training affairs secretary, handed over the letter signed by JOF leader Dr Kamal Hossai to the office of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) around 4:30pm.

The letter says, Different political parties are holding dialogue with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the next general election which still continues. Awami League (AL) general secretary told us for a fresh dialogue with PM likely to be held on November. JOF is also cordially interested in hodling the dialogue. In this circumstance, it is better for EC to defer schedule announcement until the political process, specially dialogue with PM ends.

Such kind of delay on schedule announcement will play a vital role to increase confidence on EC among people and political parties, the letter reads.
