JP MP demands Nahid's resignation

Staff Correspondent, from Parliament: Jatiya Party (JP) Lawmaker Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu demanded resignation of Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid for encouraging irregularities in the ministry instead of stopping them including his failure to stop the menace of question paper leakage in public examinations.

Speaking on a point of order in the parliament on Monday, Bablu also called upon Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to remove Nahid and appoint another minister to save millions of student’s education life.

Bablu said, “The Education Minister should have resigned admitting his failure to stop the menace of question paper leakage in public examinations but he didn’t do that. So, I call upon Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to sack him and appoint another one.”

A few days back, an allegation was surfaced in the media that he inspired officials to take bribe maintaining a tolerable level. Then, how he will stop the menace of question paper leakage, he questioned.

Coming down heavily on the education minister, Bablu said question leakage in different examinations has turned an epidemic as it is taking place frequently.

Deputy Speaker M Fazle Rabbi Mia, who was presiding over the sitting of the House at that time said the prime minister certainly listened the speech and she would definitely take necessary steps for the sake of the nation.

The premier, also Leader of the House, was present in the parliament at that time.
