JP to act as opposition, Ershad to lead it

Staff Correspondent:  Jatiya Party (JP) has decided to act as the main opposition party in the parliament with 22 lawmakers elected in the December 30 national election.

A press release singed by JP Chairman HM Ershad was sent to media houses on Friday in this regard.

According to the press release, HM Ershad will act as the main leader of the opposition in the House and Golam Mohammad Quader, co-chairman of the party, will act as the deputy leader of the opposition.

None of JP MPs will join the cabinet of the new government, Ershad added in the press release.

Ershad also requested the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad to take necessary measures in this regard.
