JS adopts obituary reference on 20 distinguished personalities

Staff Correspondent: The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) has unanimously adopted an obituary reference on 20 distinguished personalities.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the obituary references on Tuesday mentioning the names separately with brief resumes on those who died since prorogation of the 14th session of the current 10th parliament.
They were former cabinet member and lawmaker Mohammad Nurul Huda, six former MPs - Colonel (retd) AA Maruf Saklain, Dherendra Nath Saha, Alhajj KM Abdul Khaleque Chantu, Kazi Mohammad Anwer Hossain, Ahsan Ali Khan and Ahsan Ahmed.
The House also condoled the deaths of Mahfuzul Bari, an accused of the Agartala Conspiracy Case along with Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, language veteran Khaja Jahirul Huq, Jahanara Begum, wife of national leader AHM Kamaruzzaman, journalists and freedom fighters - Poet Siddique Ahmed and Amir Hossain, music maestro and freedom fighter Lucky Akhand and film actor Miju Ahmed.
Besides, the Speaker expressed deep shock at the deaths of people in a terrorist attack outside the British Parliament and at a military base in Afghanistan and who killed in separate accidents at home and abroad in recent time.
The JS conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.
Later, a munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls. Lawmaker MA Awal conducted the munajat in the House.
