JU students asked to leave halls, dozens held

JU Correspondent: The authority of Jahangirnagar University (JU) asked students to leave halls within 10:00am after announcing all classes and examinations closed for indefinite period.

Centering the death of two students on Dhaka-Aricha highway, agitated students made attack on the residence of vice-chancellor (VC) of the university in protest of police attack on them on Saturday night.

As a sequel to that the authority held an urgent syndicate meeting where the decision took in the night.

Meanwhile police held at least 42 students for their alleged involvement in vandisiling at VC's residence.

A case was also filed against them, sources said.

When contacted to be confirmed the matter, Proctor Professor Tapan Kumar Saha did not receive phone call.

Nazmul Hassan Rana of Marketing department and Arafat of Microbiology Department were killed in road crash at Savar CNB area in the wee hours of Friday.
