Jail authorities return Shahidul’s bail bond

Staff Correspondent: The jail authorities sent back the bail bond of noted photographer Shahidul Alam to Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Tuesday.

Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam granted bail to Shahidul Alam on Tk 10,000 bond which was sent to the jail at the noon. But the jail authorities sent it back to the court around 3:30pm as wrong address was found on it.

A petition has already been submitted to the court seeking amended the address. Permission has yet not been granted in this regard, said Shahidul’s lawyer Jayedur Rahman.

Earlier on Monday afternoon, the bail order to Shahidul reached CMM court. It was not submitted on the day as it reached after the working hour ended.

Mentionable, a High Court (HC) bench granted bail to the prominent photographer Shahidul in a case filed under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) act on November 15.

The renowned photographer was picked up by plainclothes men from his home in the capital's Dhanmondi on August 5.
