Judges’ code of conduct: Minister to sit with Appellate Division

Staff Correspondent: Law Minister Anisul Haque will sit with the justices of Appellate Division of the Supreme Court next Thursday with a view to resolving the problem to publish a gazette notification on the disciplinary and conduct rules for lower court judges.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told this to court during a hearing at a five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah on Sunday morning.

The bench also fixed next hearing date of the case on December 3. 

On December 2 in 1999, the Supreme Court in the Masdar Hossain case issued a 12-point directive, including formulating separate disciplinary rules for the lower court judges.
