Jute bags mandatory for 11 more products

Secretariat Correspondent: The government has made the use of jute bags mandatory for 11 more agricultural products.

The Ministry of Textiles & Jute came up with the disclosure through a press release on Tuesday. A circular has been issued on January 21 in this regard, the release said.

The newly-added commodities for which the use of jute bags is mandatory are chili, turmeric, onion, ginger, garlic, pulses, coriander, potato, flour and rice bran.

With Tuesday's order, use of jute is now compulsory in the preservation and transporting of 20 kg or more of the 17 commodities.
