Khalaf murder: Order on review petition Sunday

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division will deliver its verdict Tuesday on a review petition filed by death penalty convict Saiful Islam Mamun in the sensational Saudi embassy official Khalaf Al Ali murder case.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain fixed the date on Thursday.

Earlier, the Supreme Court upheld the High Court verdict that confirmed the death sentence of one person, sentenced three others to life imprisonment and acquitted another in the case.

The convict, whose death sentence was upheld, is Saiful Islam Mamun and three convicts, who were sentenced to life imprisonment, are Mohammad Al Amin, Rafiqul Islam Khokan and Akbar Ali Lalu. They are all behind the bars while acquitted Selim Chowdhury in on the run.

An official of the Saudi embassy in Dhaka was shot dead some 30 yards off his house in the city's Gulshan area on March 06, 2012.
