Khaleda Zia mentally very strong: Fakhrul

Staff Correspondent: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that although the party chairperson Khaleda Zia is physically sick, she is mentally very strong.

Fakhrul told this to the reporters after meeting BNP chief Khaleda Zia in old Dhaka central jail on Saturday.

“She (Khaleda) urged the countrymen to keep her in their prayers, “he added.

In reply to a query, Fakhrul said, “No political or organisational discussion was held with her. Discussion was made about her physical condition. She is sick physically, but mentally very strong.”

“She secured bails in several cases. Still, bail needs in two more cases. I hope that she will get bails in the cases too,” he added.

Taking permission from the jail authorities, Fakhrul entered the jail around 4:00pm and came out of it one hour later around 5:00pm.

Fakhrul last met the BNP chief on April 28.

On February 8, Khaleda was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
