Khaleda gets 6-month bail in Narail defamation case

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has granted a six-month bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a defamation case filed in Narail for making derogatory remarks on martyrs of the Liberation War.

The bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Kashefa Hussain passed the order on Monday.

Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali moved for Khaleda Zia while K M Ehsanur assisted him during the hearing.

Earlier on August 5, the Narail district and sessions Judge Sheikh Abdul Ahad rejected Khaleda Zia’s bail. Later, Khaleda Zia appealed to the High Court.

According to the case statement, on December 21, 2015 Khaleda Zia at a discussion held at the Engineering Institution of Bangladesh in the capital, raised the question about the number of people who were killed in the Liberation War.
