Khaleda skips court in Gatco case

Staff Correspondent: The jail authorities did not produce the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia before a Dhaka court on Monday in the Gatco corruption case.

Dhaka Special Judge Court 3 was scheduled to hear the charge-framing in the case.

The jail authority did not send Khaleda Zia before the court due to the physical illness of her.

Earlier, the court proceedings were started at 11:37am on Monday. Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal said that the main accused Khaleda Zia could not appear before the court following her illness. He also prayed to the court to continue the hearing in the absence of Khaleda Zia.

However, the BNP chairperson's counsel Masud Ahmed Talukdar appealed to delay the hearings.

Later, the court fixed April 17 for charge hearing in the case.
