Khaleda’s Niko case charge hearing today

Staff Correspondent: A court here in Dhaka on Sunday will hold hearing on the charge framing in Niko Graft case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and 10 others.

The hearing would be held at the Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of Dhaka Special Judge Court 9—set up in newly built jail in Keraniganj.

According to the case, on December 9, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case with Tejgaon police station over charges that Khaleda—and several others—abused power to award a gas exploration and extraction deal to Canadian company Niko, during her tenure as prime minister between 2001 and 2006.

On May 5, 2008, the anti-graft watchdog submitted a charge sheet against Khaleda and 10 others in the graft case.
