Khaleda’s bail extended till July 19

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has extended bail until July 19 for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

A HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice MD Mustafizur Rahman passed the order after Khaleda’s lawyer pleaded for her bail extension on Thursday. 

Earlier, HC granted four months bail for Khaleda in the case.

Advocate A J Mohammad Ali and Abdur Rezak Kahn stood for Khaleda in the court while Advocate Khurshid Alam for State.

On February 8, the Dhaka Special Court-5 convicted the former Prime Minister and BNP chairperson and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

She was then sent to old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in the city.
