Khaleda’s bail extended till Sept 5

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Tuesday extended the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia till September 5 in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Acting Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of Dhaka's Special Judge Court-5 passed the order.
The case was fixed for hearing arguments on the day. But, Khaleda Zia was not produced before the court as she was ill.
Sanaullah Mia, a lawyer for Khaleda Zia, filed a petition seeking time extension for her bail.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal was present at the courtroom.
On February 8 last, a special court convicted former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The ACC on August 8, 2011 filed the graft case against Khaleda Zia and three others with Tejgaon police station for embezzling Tk 3.15 crore from Zia Charitable Trust.
