Kohli fined for breach of code of conduct

Sports Desk: Virat Kohli, India's captain, was fined 25 per cent of his match fee for advancing towards umpire Aleem Dar in an aggressive manner while appealing for a leg-before decision against Afghanistan on Saturday (June 22). One demerit point was also added to his record, taking his tally to two.

He was found guilty of breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct in Southampton and Article 2.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "Excessive appealing during an International Match".

There was no need of a formal hearing as Kohli accepted the sanction from match referee Chris Broad.

It was his second offence since the revised Code was adopted in September 2016, with him having copped the first point during the Pretoria Test against South Africa on 15 January 2018. _Agencies
