Lakehead school to remain closed for more 7 days

Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has again stayed a High Court (HC) order for seven days that ordered to reopen the capital's Dhanmondi and Gulshan branches of Lakehead Grammar School which was shut for its alleged involvement in militancy.
So, the activities of Lakehead Grammar School will remain closed till the further order.
Alongside, the court ordered the Education Ministry to form a new managing committee for the school.
A five-member Appellate Division bench headed by the Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahab Mia passed the order on Tuesday.
Senior lawyer AF Hassan Arif, Barrister Akhter Imam and Barrister Rashna Imam moved for Lakehead Grammer School while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state in the court.
On November 14, the High Court ordered to reopen the school within 24 hours. Later, the state filed a petition seeking stay the order.
On November 7, the Dhaka district administration sealed off Dhanmondi and Gulshan branches of Lakehead Grammar School and shut down all activities of the school, based on allegations that it was patronising militancy, promoting extremist views and providing support in the formation of militant outfits.
