Last tributes paid to Ayub Bachchu

Staff Correspondent: People from all walks of life on Friday paid their last tributes to celebrated guitarist and singer Ayub Bachchu at the Central Shaheed Minar.

The body of the popular singer, carried by an ambulance, reached the Shaheed Minar around 10:15am.

The body was kept there until 12:30pm giving a chance to his fans, well-wishers and followers to see him for the last time.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister ObaidulQuader, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Sommilito Sangskritik Jote leaders including eminent drama personality Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu, Ayub Bachchu’s colleagues, fellow musicians, artistes and cultural activists along with people from all walks of life gathered there to pay their respects.

Later, a namaz-e-janaza of legendary rock musician and guitarist was held at the National Eidgah after Jumma prayer.

Afterwards, the body will be kept in a hospital mortuary and will be flown to his ancestral residence in Chittagong on Friday night.

The rockstar will be buried at his family graveyard in the port city Saturday (Oct 20).

According to family sources, Ayub Bachchu performed in a stage show in Rangpur on Wednesday night. He along with his team members arrived in Dhaka early Thursday. But Bachchu was feeling discomfort. He was rushed to the Square Hospital immediatey where doctors declared him dead.
