Law enforcers alert in empty Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: The hustling and bustling Dhaka city has entered into a brief period of tranquility as millions of the dwellers left the city for their home to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr.

About five millions of people left the capital during the vacation. As a result, the city became almost empty. Most of the city roads and areas are vacant. Normally, a gang of robbers and thieves took the chance. Following the issue, police forces were kept alert to avoid any kinds of untoward situation.

Dhaka Metropolitan police commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said that there is no possibility of any terror attack during Eid. However, robbers and thieves could harm the tranquility.

In reply to another question, he said that special police unit was kept ready to move instantly for any emergency.

Police put barricade in several key points of the city to speedy vehicles including CNG, motorcycles.

Motijheel police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Omar Faruk said that basically snatchers, thieves and Oggan party men started their heinous activities during Eid vacation. So, check posts were deployed to ensure security.
