Leftover food from the Oscars went to LA's needy

Entertainment Desk: Actress Freida Pinto teamed up with a charity organisation to ensure that none of the leftover food from the Oscars after-party went to waste.

Pinto, best known for her role in 2008 Oscar-winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ shared an image on Instagram of uneaten food from annual post-Academy Awards dinner the Governer’s Ball being served up to those in need at LA’s LGBT Center, thanks to local charity Copia.

The actress wrote, “When Awards Week gives back – food that would have otherwise been wasted has now been shared and connected with the LA LGBT ???? Center , just 3.3 miles away from the Event in Los Angeles. Wastage isn’t glamorous, feeding people is! #zerowaste #zerohunger #eatlikeastar @gocopia”

According to Variety, the menu for the 2017 Governor’s Ball was prepared by chef Wolfgang Puck, and included “gold-dusted popcorn, sweet pea falafel, taro root tacos with shrimp and mango, spice gougeres with black truffle dust, lobster corn dogs and parsnip agnolotti.”

If only all food banks could offer up such choices.
