List of top 300 loan defaulters revealed

Parliament Correspondent: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal disclosed the names of the top 300 loan defaulters of the country involving Tk 50,942 crore.

The finance minister revealed the list of the loan defaulters in the House while replying to a query of ruling Awami League MP M Israfil Alam on Saturday.

Mustafa Kamal said these loan defaulters took loans of Tk 70,571 crore from different banks and financial institutions of the public and private sector out of which Tk 52,837 crore was not repaid.

Responding to a tabled starred question from Workers Party MP elected for reserved women seat Lutfun Nesa Khan, the finance minister came up with the disclosure of a list of borrowers who took more than Tk five crore from banks, finance and public sector having outstanding amount five crore and bellow.

The list showed that some 14,715 individuals and institutions took loans of Tk 100,183 crore since 2009.
