Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman at a press briefing on Thursday said that the literacy rate of Bangladesh is now 72.9 per cent which was 72.3 per cent last year.

There are 3.35crore illiterate people in the country and the government will take programmes to make them literate, said the minister.
