Liton hits fabulous double century

Sports Correspondent: Though Liton Kumar Das did not get runs in the first innings, he smashed a fabulous double century for Rangpur Division against Rajshahi Division in the second innings.

He hit the brilliant double century off 140 balls on the 3rd day of the 2nd round of the Walton National Cricket League (NCL) on Wednesday.

Rangpur was all out at 151 and Liton bagged just 17 runs in the first innings.

In chase, Rajshahi declared innings at 589 runs, thanks to centuries of Mizanur Rahman (165), Nazmul Hossain Shanto (173), Junayed Siddique (100) for 4 wickets.

Liton opened in the second innings for Rangpur when the team was trailed by 438 runs. He and Jahid Jabed made a good start built a partnership of 98 runs. Jahid returned to the pavilion for 35 runs.

Later, he built another good partnership with Mahmudul Hassan and smashed a century off 81 balls.

In his brilliant innings, Liton hit 17 fours and a six in the innings to bag century.

It is the 13th century for Liton in the first-class cricket. He made it double with stormy style, just hitting another 51 balls.

Liton smashed a brilliants innings of 203 runs from 142 balls which includes 32 fours and 4 sixes, before he returned to the pavilion. It was the fastest double century in the first-class cricket. With this, he broke his record of double century of 193 balls.

Liton joined NCL, returning from Asia Cup held in Dubai. He also smashed a brilliant century in the final of the tournament against India.
