Main Eid congregation seeks peace, security of country

Senior Reporter: Seeking blessings,  peace and security for all people and country, the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held at National Eidgah on Bangladesh Supreme Court premises in Dhaka on Saturday morning.

The congregation started at about 8:30am and headed by Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s Senior Pesh Imam Mawlana Mufti Mohammad Mizanur Rahman.

After the namaz, the Muslims prayed for the peace and progress of the country. The congregation also prayed seeking blessings for all countrymen.

A special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for the peace and progress of Bangladesh and welfare of the people as well as Muslim ummah.

President Abdul Hamid, cabinet members, government high-ups, diplomats and non-government officials, among others, attended the Eid prayers.

Doa was also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of country’s founding Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his other family members who were brutally killed on August 15, 1975.

Besides, doa was also offered for the people who embraced martyrdom in different times for the sake of country and establishing democracy.

After the prayers, President Hamid exchanged Eid greetings with the devotees.

The Eid Jamaat was held under the auspices of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) amid intensified security vigilance in and around of the Eidgah adjacent to the High Court.
Earlier, on his arrival at the Eidgah, the President was received by DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon.

Strict security measures were taken to ensure safety and security at the Eidgah during the country’s prime Eid congregation.
