DHAKA, Aug 19: Professor Panna Kaiser, widow of Liberation War martyr noted journalist Shahidullah Kaiser, on Monday in her testimony stated that Chowdhury Mainuddin and Ashrafuzzman had been involved in abduction and killing of her husband.

Members of the Al Badr bahini abducted Shahidullah Kaiser from his Kayethtoly residence on December 14, 1971.

"After December 16,1971, I had been to different places including Rayerbazar killing center to find my husband`s body, but could not," Panna Kaiser said in her deposition as a prosecution witness.

She said one Khaleque Majumder, who was awarded 14 years rigorous imprisonment in 1972, for his involvement in abducting Shahidullah Kaiser admitted that he and his associated had abducted Kaiser and handed him over to Chowdhury Mainuddin and Ashrafuzzman Khan.

Panna Kaiser, a former Parliament member, in her deposition before the International Crimes Tribunal-2 elaborated the scenario of the abduction of her husband in an emotional voice.

"I tried to detect the body of my husband at Mohammadpur, Rayerbazar and in several killing grounds across the city after
December 16, 1971, but could not find the body," the witness
said.

After her deposition, state defense Salma Hye Tuni and Abdus Sukur Khan started cross-examining Panna Kaiser.

The tribunal headed by Justice Obaidul Hassan adjourned the proceedings till tomorrow.

Chowdhury Mainuddin and Ashrafuzzman are accused of crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation and the trial against them is being held in absentia, as both of them were absconding.
