Maj Gen Shafeenul made new BGB DG

Secretariat Correspondent: The government has appointed Major General Md Shafeenul Islam as the new Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.

Major General Md Shafeenul Islam, who was serving as the Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board, replaced Major General Abul Hossain as the chief of the paramilitary force.

Abul Hossain was withdrawn and attached to the Armed Forces Division on March 7.

Meanwhile, Major General Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman has been made new Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board, according to the notification.

Major General Md Shafeenul Islam had been serving as the Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board since February 18, 2016.

He joined Bangladesh Military Academy on June 25, 1984 and was commissioned on June 27, 1986 in the Corps of Infantry.

He has attended several professional courses both at home and abroad.

Shahfeenul is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and obtained his Masters in Defence Studies from National University, Bangladesh.

He loves hunting, travelling and playing golf. The name of his wife is Soma Islam and he has a son and a daughter.
