Male worker spends Tk 1,65,000 to go to KSA

Staff Correspondent, from Parliament: Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc said a male worker has to spend Tk 1,65,000 as the migration cost if he wants to go to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The minister said this while replying to a starred question made by a treasury bench lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury of Bhola-3 in the House here on Monday.

Nurul Islam BSc said the government has recently revised the migration cost for 16 countries. The government is sending women workers to Saudi Arabia with zero migration cost alongside the migration cost for the male workers has been set maximum Taka 1,65,000 for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), the minister added.

In the last nine years till December last, he said a total of 51,98,914 Bangladeshi migrant workers have already got employment in different countries.

The maximum migration cost for sending Bangladeshi workers to Singapore has been set Taka 2,62,270 through the recruiting agency. Migration cost for Malaysia has been set Taka 1,60,000, Taka 1,45,780 for Libya, Taka 97,780 for Bahrain, Taka 1,07,780 for United Arab Emirates (UAE), Taka 1,06,780 for Kuwait, Taka 1,00780 for Oman, Taka 1,29,540 for Iraq, Taka 1,00780 for Qatar, Taka 1,02,780 for Jordan, Taka 1,20,780 for Egypt, he added.

Nurul Islam BSc told the House that Taka 1,66,640 has been set for Russia, Taka 1,15,780 for the Maldives, Taka 1,20,780 for Brunei Darus Salam and Taka 1,17,780 for Lebanon.
