Three killed amid nor ’wester in city

Senior Correspondent: Three people were killed amid nor ’wester in the capital Dhaka.

Of them, a man died and 18 others sustained injuries as a pandal at Baitul Mukarram premises collapsed amid rain and storm.

The incident took place on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 45.

Bachchu Mia, In-Charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Police camp, confirmed of rushing 18 injured people to the hospital.

Witnesses said the pandal collapsed while devotees were taking preparation for saying prayer after iftar.

Our DMCH Correspondent BulBul Chowdhury said there is a police man among the injured. Body of the deceased was kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, two people were killed and another was injured as wall collapsed at Uttar Badda in the capital amid the storm.

The deceased were identified as Papon, 27, and Bulbul Biswas, 28.

Badda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the news.
