Man to die for killing farmer in Manikganj

Manikganj Correspondent: A Manikganj court sentenced a man to death for killing a farmer in Sadar upazila of the district in 2008.

The court of District and Sessions Judge Al-Mahmud Fayzul Kabir announced the verdict in absentia of the accused on Sunday noon.

The condemned convict is Nurul Islam, 25, son of Hazrat Ali, hailing from Kafatia village in Sadar upazila.

According to the prosecution, Nurul and Aynal Hossain, 48, a farmer of the same village, had been at loggerheads over a boundary wall of their houses in the area.

Following the enmity, Nurul along with his some neighbors stabbed Aynal with sharp weapons on October 3, 2008, leaving him dead on the spot.

Kafil Uddin, father of the deceased, filed a murder case accusing Nurul Islam, his father Hazrat Ali, neighbour Akkas Ali, Shamsuddin and Bimala Khatun.

Akkas, one of the accused,died when the trial was going on.

After examining the records and witnesses, the court handed down the verdict acquitting three other accused as the charges brought against them could not be proved.
