Manzill Murshid gets death threat, files GD

Staff Correspondent: Supreme Court (SC) lawyer Advocate Manzil Murshid on Wednesday filed a general diary (GD) with the capital's Shahbag Police Station as he received death threat.

According to the GD (1523), employees of Techno Drugs Pharma that produces cancer preventions threatened to kill him.

Jafar Ali Biswas, Inspector of Shahbag Police Station, confirmed the news.

"Techno Drug Pharma men threatened him to kill while he was leaving the court premises on Wednesday," the GD revealed.

He, however, did not know him personally, Manzil mentioned in the GD.

It may be mentioned that Manzil Murshid filed a writ petition before the High Court (HC) alleging several drug companies are producing anti-cancer preventions violating rules and regulation.

Following the petition, HC ordered to submit report prepared by a committee that would include delegates from World Health Organisation (WHO). It was scheduled to file the report today (Wednesday).

When asked, Manzil Murshid said they submitted a report today, but there was no delegate from WHO. That's why, we opposed the report and the court rejected it.

"When I was leaving the court premises today, some people suspected to be employees of Techno Drug Pharma issued a 24-hour ultimatum to me for moving back from their ways. Otherwise they threatened me to kill," he added.

Later, I informed the matter to the court and filed a GD with Shahbag Police Station, he said.
