Marcel targets 50% sales growth

Milton Ahmed: High quality, affordable prices and best after-sales service are the three main factors for which Marcel is climbing up towards the top position in local market.

Marcel has attained the trust of consumers as a local brand in Bangladeshi electronics and electrical products market which led to the rise of demand and sales of Marcel brand products across the country. The trusted brand is maintaining significant growth in product sales which was 42 percent in last year. This year, Marcel has set the target of 50 percent sales growth.

According to sources at Marcel, the local brand witnessed remarkable growth in the first two months of the year (January and February) in the sales of refrigerators, LED TV, ACs and other home and electrical appliances. In comparison of 2016 to the first two months of 2017, the sales of refrigerators increased by more than 40 percent. In that period, the sales of AC and LED TV respectively witnessed 70 and 84 percent growths. The sales of various home and electrical appliances also remarkably increased.

 


Nasima Akter, principal officer of marketing department of Marcel, said, the local brand has witnessed 30 to 35 percent average growth over the last few years. The target of 40 percent growth in product sales was set for 2016. At the end of the year, 42 percent growth has been achieved surpassing the target. She said, manufacturing and marketing of quality products inside the country using state-of-the-art technology, affordable prices, attractive design, accessible sales and service network across the country are the main reasons behind achieving the trust of customers. Following the success, this year, the sales target has been set at more than 50 percent. She expressed her confidence that the target would be achieved at the end of the year.

According to authorities, modern and well-timed work plan has been adopted in every steps starting with the production process and marketing strategy. Intelligent Inverter Technology based refrigerator with environment friendly R600a gas along with various electrical products including ceiling fan, sealed lead acid rechargeable battery, electric switch-socket etc. have been included in the product line. A wide range of home appliances including hair dryer and straightener, MOP set, air fryer, juicer, clothes dryer, food processor, cookware, electric lunch box, cake maker, doughnut maker, coffee maker, sandwich maker etc. are on the upcoming products list. More emphasis has been given on research and development activities to ensure highest quality. New sales and service points are introduced in the nationwide blank points.

Marcel has over one hundred attractive designs and models of more than 20 world standard products. Among them are 31 models of refrigerator, 4 models of freezer, 31 models of LED TV, 4 models of air conditioner, 8 models of rechargeable fan, 2 models of ceiling fan, 3 models of electric kettle, 4 models of blender, 8 types of rice cooker, 4 types of iron, rechargeable lamp and torchlight, 3 models of the room heater and voltage stabilizer, 2 models of gas stove, 1 model of induction cooker along with other home and electric appliances.

Sanjida Akhter, a housewife in Tangail, said, she purchased a Marcel brand fridge four years ago which is providing smooth service. If there is any problem, they send technician just over a phone call. Their service is excellent. Few days earlier, I’ve bought a 32-inch Marcel brand LED TV which is very good. I'm happy using Marcel brand products, she said.

Mosharof Hossain Razib, head of marketing (North) of Marcel, said: Our main objective is to provide customers high quality products in affordable prices. Maintaining the high quality of the products is possible as they are being manufactured in our won factory in the country. Diverse colors and new designs of products are being released in the market regularly. He expressed his hopes that Marcel will soon become the top brand in local market of electronics products.

Meanwhile, Shamim Al Mamun, marketing head (South) of Marcel, said, the market share of Marcel in the local market is increasing every year. We are moving ahead to achieve the target of 50 percent growth in products sales this year. We are confident that the target will be achieved easily as the demand of Marcel brand products is swelling up every day.
