'Maritime communication with Myanmar to be launched'

Secretariat Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government has taken an initiative to launch maritime communication with Myanmar.

The minister came up with the disclosure while talking to reporters after a meeting of the National Smuggling Prevention Committee at his secretariat office on Thursday afternoon.

The Home Minister said, "The government is working following zero tolerance policy against smuggling. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed all concerned to take stern actions against smugglers. The smugglers will be brought to justice how powerful they are. Coast Guards are conducting drives on river routes to prevent smuggling on the basis of information provided by the detectives."

Smugglers are enemies to the country and nation. No one will be spared in this regard, he added.

The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal where chief officials of law enforcement agencies were present.
