Staff Correspondent: The country’s four maritime ports have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal No. three as a deep convection is taking place over the North Bay of Bengal today.
According to a Met office notice, squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the four maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra.
Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Barisal, Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna are likely to experience wind speed up to 40-50 kph in gusts or squalls with heavy falls during the passage of the depression.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
