Desk Report: Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is surely contesting the upcoming 11th general polls as the ruling Awami League (AL) served him the final letter of nomination on Sunday.
He will contest the polls in Narail-2 constituency with the symbol of ‘boat’.
Discussion and criticism sparked on social media after Mashrafe bought nomination paper of AL. Now, he came up with the explanation about why he joined the politics.
On Sunday night, ‘The Narail Express’ posted a status on his verified Facebook page.
He wrote, “(I) started the cricket journey in 2001. Now it is 2018. In this 18 years, (I) had played cricket with heart and soul and never compromised. (I) do not want to compromise till the next World Cup. The rest is on the will of the God.”
He said, “Political stimulation was in me from earlier as (I) always believe that massive development was not possible in the without politics. (I) received your love as (I) played cricket. Otherwise, (I) probably got lost in 2011. This Mashrafe might not be lasted so long. Your love (I) received from you in 2011 helped to run for the next seven years. Now (I) got chances to do something for my countrymen. (I) know nothing what is waiting for me in the next 4.5 years following the World Cup. And that’s why, (I) evaluated the time. (I) heard the call of time as I believe that work should be done on proper time.”
