Mashrafe returns home from hospital

Sports Correspondent: Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza has returned home from hospital as no major problems were found in reports of testing his lungs.

The veteran right-arm pacer was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Dhaka as he noticed blood with his phlegm on Saturday morning.

After two hours, he returned home from the hospital.

When contacted through SMS, Mashrafe replied over confirmation of his staying at home.

He said, "I'm now well and staying at home."

Earlier, in the morning, Dr Debashish Chowdhury, chief medical officer of Bangladesh Cricekt Board (BCB), said,"There is nothing serious. Some blood came with his spit this morning but after examining his lungs no major threat was found."

He was just taken to hospital as precautionary measure, he added.

Mashrafe did not travel with the national squad to Chittagong.

The squad, preparing for the two-match Test series against Australia, will spend a week in the port city and play two practice matches.

Mashrafe stayed back in Dhaka and was doing individual practice in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, as he is not a part of the Bangladesh Test side since 2009 over injury concerns.
